GroupLock
Social Guardian · getting help

You can step away. You do not have to handle this alone.

Someone making you uncomfortable is a reason to ask for support. You do not need to collect more messages or prove what happened before talking to a trusted adult.

Effective / version: 2026-08-31

Start with your immediate safety

For immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. Do not wait for a GroupLock notification to be read. Move to a safer place and speak to a trusted adult directly when you can.

Stop the pressure

You can stop replying. Do not send intimate images, passwords, money, or your location to satisfy a demand. Do not confront someone or keep talking just to gather evidence.

Use the original platform's controls

Open the profile or conversation menu in the app where the interaction happened. Use its Report, Block, Mute, or Leave controls as appropriate. GroupLock recommendations do not press those buttons for you. Ask a trusted adult to help with platform-specific steps.

Open Leave a Group for platform guidance and direct GroupLock exits. It also covers conversations you joined before you had GroupLock. No chat content or password is needed for the guides.

Share only what is necessary

For an eligible Social Guardian review, describe the concern or include a short relevant excerpt. Remove other people's unrelated personal details. Do not copy, download, or forward sexual images of a minor into GroupLock; report the concern through appropriate platform or safety-reporting channels instead.

Know whether anyone has been notified

A private review does not notify a parent or moderator. When you explicitly share it with a linked Family organizer, GroupLock creates an in-app alert and attempts the available notification channels. Check for acknowledgment, and contact the person directly rather than relying on a push notification.
